The second PetroFed oil & gas industry awards in nine categories were given away by the Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, Shri R. S. Pandey at a well attended function at New Delhi on April 16, 2009.
Congratulating the award winners the Secretary, Petroleum & Natural Gas complimented PetroFed for instituting the awards and their manner of independent evaluation. He praised the Indian oil & gas industry for its resilience and stated that none of the oil companies in the country is likely to be in the red in the just concluded fiscal. These awards, he said will help oil & gas companies improve their performance through healthy competition.
Welcoming invitees Chairman, PetroFed and Chairman, IndianOil, Shri S. Behuria said that these awards not only recognise but also help nurture excellence in various facets of performance.
The Vice Chairman, PetroFed, Shri P. Raghavendran, President (Refinery Business), RIL proposed a vote of thanks at the conclusion of the awards ceremony. Earlier, Director General, PetroFed, Shri A. K. Arora briefed the audience on the genesis, intensive study and the rigorous procedure which went into the institution and evaluation of the awards.
The lessons learnt during every awards evaluation are debated and deliberated by knowledge partner and member company, PricewaterhouseCoopers and the Awards Committee and Jury.
The Awards Committee is headed by Dr. Prodipto Ghosh, Distinguished Fellow, TERI and former Secretary to the Government of India. The other members of the Awards Committee are Shri S. K. The Jury is headed by Hon’ble Mr. Justice J.S. Verma, former Chief Justice of India. The other members of the Jury are Dr. Abid Hussain, former Ambassador to the United States of America and Shri Naresh Narad, Chairman, Public Enterprises Selection Board.
The scheme of awards is open to all companies operating in India in the oil & gas sector. The evaluation is undertaken in line with pre-determined weightages assigned to various parameters fixed after due validation. Each award category must receive a prescribed minimum number of applications for giving away an award. Each award carries a trophy and a citation. The Woman Executive of the Year award also carries a cash prize of Rs. one lakh. The Innovator of the Year individual award has a cash component of Rs. two lakh while the team award has a prize of Rs. five to six lakh with each member of the team getting Rs. 50,000/- or more.
